The 2025 Hotel Openings That Should Be On Your Shortlist
From a luxury subtropical resort featuring all private-pool villas to the Cottagecore inn of your dreams, these new hotels will make you want to book that trip ASAP.
I don’t know about you, but I love a good hotel opening. The intrigue. The anticipation. The excitement of stepping onto a new property. And sure, you never know if a hotel is actually going to live up to the hype, but it’s always fun to make predictions about which ones you think are going to knock it out of the park. It’s a hotel lover’s version of fantasy football, if you will. So without further ado, here are my picks for an all-star lineup.
The 2025 hotel openings, shortlisted:
Rosewood Miyakojima - Okinawa, Japan
Starting out strong with one that I’m actually set to visit in April is Rosewood Miyakojima in Okinawa, Japan. My great-grandparents emigrated from Okinawa to Hawai'i and last year I finally got to visit for the first time. When I learned Rosewood was opening a luxury resort on Miyako Island it didn’t take much convincing for me to book a trip back. With 55 oceanview pool villas designed by Dutch studio Piet Boon overlooking crystal clear water, 4 restaurants and a luxe spa — coupled with friendly Okinawan hospitality — this one is going to be right up my alley.
Villa Beatrice - Portofino, Italy
This July, timed to coincide with the third phase of Splendido’s multi-year renovation (which includes a revamped main building, cocktail bar and Dior Spa), Belmond will introduce Villa Beatrice, an exclusive private home by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio. Housed in a historic palazzo atop the cliffs of Punta Caiega, the reimagined villa boasts original Coppedè external frescoes and ceilings, four suites and the separate one-bedroom “La Casetta.” Butler service is included, as is a plunge pool with sun deck, gym and terrace for al fresco dining. Talk about living la dolce vita.
The Six Bells - Hudson Valley, USA
Audrey Gelman’s luxe country-inspired home goods store by the same name is expanding to include a boutique inn in New York’s Hudson Valley. Described as a “storybook you can sleep in,” this adorable stay gets bonus points for the entire inn being shoppable — from the glassware down to the bedding. Designed by Greco Deco, an interiors firm based in New York, The Six Bells hotel will feature eleven distinctive guest rooms, a restaurant and tavern serving up hearty early-American fare and a shopping boutique. I love a hotel with personality and this one’s got it in spades.
&Beyond Suyian Lodge - Laikipia, Kenya
Nestled in 44,000-acre of Kenyan wilderness, this intimate 14-suite luxury safari lodge from &Beyond is slated to open in July. Inspired by the nearby granite kopjes and meant to blend seamlessly into the surrounding landscape, the curved shape of the lodge features rooftop vegetation while the luxe interiors are done in Afro Wabi-Sabi style with nods to the local Samburu culture. From guided bush walks and game drives to gourmet al fresco meals and indulgent spa treatments, &Beyond Suyian Lodge has the all the makings of an incredible luxury safari experience.
Son Ermità and Binidufà - Menorca, Spain
A beautiful country estate with not one but two boutique hotels. Son Ermità and Binidufà by the Vestige Collection will debut in 2025 on the Spanish island of Menorca. Both of the 18th century fincas are intimate, with just 11 rooms each — hilltop Son Ermità features panoramic mountain and ocean views, while Binidufà is a rustic-chic finca set amidst ancient olive groves. The full estate is yours to enjoy when staying at either hotel — including the extensive grounds, three pools, two seasonal restaurants, state-of-the-art gym and spa.
One & Only Moonlight Basin - Montana, USA
Featuring views of Lone Mountain & the Spanish Peaks One&Only Moonlight Basin is the luxe Montana ski resort of your dreams. Designed by renowned firm Olson Kundig, the construction features contemporary mountain-inspired spaces that allow the surrounding alpine scenery to take center stage. Boasting a private lake and multiple pools, forest-to-plate dining, a luxe spa and even a private gondola, this is the kind of glamorous mountain escape a non-skier like myself can get behind.
Airelles Venezia - Venice, Italy
This fall, the luxury hotel brand Airelles will open its first stay outside of France on the Venetian island of Giudecca. Just five minutes by boat from the iconic Piazza San Marco, Airelles Venezia’s historic buildings have been artfully restored by Christophe Tollemer, the same architect and interior designer behind Airelles’ other stunning properties. The elegant 45-key hotel will feature beautifully appointed rooms and suites, extensive private gardens, a preserved church, three swimming pools and multiple elevated dining options, including a cicchetti bar.
Belden House & Mews — Litchfield, USA
From the owners of the Hudson Valley’s beloved Troutbeck comes Belden House & Mews, located just 2 hours from Manhattan in the picture-perfect New England town of Litchfield, Connecticut. Slated to open in March, the 31-key design-led hotel by Champalimaud Design will house a locally sourced restaurant, a seasonal pool and lawn club, and Bathhouse which features a Japanese Ofuro tub (hello cold plunge). I mean, just look at how cozy that library looks.
Nobu Beach Inn - Barbuda, Antigua and Barbuda
Opening in late 2025 is Robert DeNiro’s newest hospitality offering, Nobu Beach Inn, set along more than two miles of coastline on the Caribbean island of Barbuda, a former favorite hideaway of Princess Diana. Offering 17 bungalow cottages as well as privately owned villas, the barefoot luxury resort will feature multiple world-class restaurants (including Nobu), a beachfront spa and open-air gym as well as bespoke experiences like secluded picnics and sailing.
Le Petit Pali - Laguna Beach, USA
Le Petit Pali by Palisociety, a brand known for its re-imagining of small inns (they’ve got two in Carmel-by-the-Sea and recently opened another in LA’s Brentwood neighborhood), is adding a Laguna Beach hotel to its portfolio. The 41-key coastal inn features charming design-led rooms, an ocean view pool and thoughtful touches like nightly homemade cookie deliveries, making it an ideal home away from home for exploring this beloved SoCal beach town.
This really makes me want to travel!
