Upscale Alpine Chic boutique hotel with British flair and impressive Matterhorn views.
How did we get here?
Switzerland was a last-minute addition to our family’s month-long winter European travels (somewhat unintentional as we got Covid for the first time and ended up quarantining in Copenhagen), so I was very pleasantly surprised when I came across this stunner of a boutique hotel in Zermatt. An affordable-ish design stay (we’re talking Switzerland in the height of winter, here) — yes, please!

Let’s talk design, shall we?
Originally opened in 1907, this Belle Époque beauty was recently reimagined by interior design firm Atelier Zurich in 2021. BEAUSiTE takes its inspiration from nature, its design bold and playful without being kitschy – think cozy spaces with tone on tone color, depth created through monochromatic trim detailing and rich patterned textiles for the additional pop of color.
Was I sucked in by this beautiful upholstered bed frame? Absolutely! But can you blame me? I mean, look at that detail. FYI, it’s upholstered in Mulberry’s Fantasia Spice, in case you’re wondering.

Rooms & Suites
There are 67 rooms and suites throughout the main building and annex, each thoughtfully designed. We initially booked the Matterhorn Double Room (which technically has a Matterhorn view from its small balcony), but it didn’t have as much natural light as I had hoped so we ended up upgrading to the Matterhorn Corner Room after the first night, which I highly recommend. The room was bright and spacious and I think my favorite part was the yellow and white striped window seat, complete with Matterhorn views.

Amenities
The hay sauna and outdoor infinity pool with village and Matterhorn views were absolute magic, but the indoor pool and whirlpools honestly felt a bit claustrophobic (especially having just come from Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa in Interlaken).
On a side note: Victoria-Jungfrau’s Spa Nescens was spectacular and like something straight out of a Wes Anderson movie — highly recommend treating yourself to the day spa if you’re in the area. The hotel itself felt a bit dated, so I personally wouldn’t recommend.
We didn’t use the gym at BEAUSiTE, but I did appreciate the wood-accented Nohrd weights and fun House of Hackney wallpaper.

What about the food?
BEAUSiTE offers a variety of dining options — two restaurants, a lobby piano bar, wine box and fondue hut. We loved starting our day at BEAUSiTE’s breakfast restaurant 3 Seasons, but for dinners we mostly enjoyed in-room dining, which was wonderful. I can’t really speak to their main restaurant The Grill — other than to say how beautiful the space was. Something to keep in mind is that the fondue hut is only open in the evenings, but must be booked ahead of time. We ended up walking up to the Cervo Mountain Resort for fondue, spritzes and some good old-fashioned people-watching one afternoon, which was a lot of fun.
Standouts
Real keys
Welcome baked goods in a cute little glass cloche
Kiddo sized robes + slippers
All in all, highly recommend BEAUSiTE for an upscale, design-led stay in Zermatt.
Amazing hotel!❤️
